JAMIE CULLUM

Jamie Cullum is a singer, composer and multi-instrumentalist, acclaimed the world over, known for his unique combination of Jazz, pop and rock. Famous for his dynamism on stage and his remarkable musical talent, Callum shot to fame with his massive hit record Twentysomething, (2003), one of the most widely sold albums of all time in the United Kingdom.

In addition to his successful record career, with nine studio albums, over ten million records sold and around 900 million streaming listens, Callum has established himself as a decorated radio presenter, through his weekly programme on BBC Radio 2, that over a million people tune in to. Over 14 years, in some 750 programmes, Jamie has interviewed artists like Paul McCartney, Billy Joel, Paul Simon, Norah Jones and Lars Ulrich, and has discovered and presented new talents like Laura Mvula, Gregory Porter, Ezra Collective and Laufey.

We know Jamie well here at Jazzaldia. We have enjoyed his concerts, alone, with his band, accompanied by a big band, and we’ve also enjoyed seeing him as a DJ; in Plaza de la Trinidad, at the Kursaal, on Zurriola beach in front of 45,000 people; in 2009, when he was in his twenties, in 2013, in 2015, celebrating the 50th edition of Jazzaldia, and in 2024, for the 60th edition.

On all of those occasions, the versatile British musician thrilled audiences with his unflagging enthusiasm, his overwhelming energy, his capacity to communicate with audiences and his endless charm. Callum feels excited when he sits at a piano singing like the old crooners, and sends audiences into a frenzy when he takes charge of his group. His charisma and inimitable voice have made him one of the most popular and loved Jazz artists in the world today.
