This morning, the Kursaal unveiled the summary of its activity in 2023, a year that stood out for its excellent level of activity, raising standards even higher and continuing its growth. The Kursaal Society, in charge of the management of the Miramar Palace since 2020, has had a significant economic impact on Gipuzkoa, generating a total of 55.4 million euros between both venues. The joint turnover, coming from the Kursaal and the Miramar Palace, reached 5 million euros, showing an increase of 4.2% compared to the previous year.
Likewise, a new consolidated cash surplus has been achieved, reaching 823,271 euros in terms of EBITDA, as a result of the excellent level of activity and income, as well as the efficient management of expenditure. This achievement has made it possible to finance both current expenditure and the entire investment made in 2023, which amounted to 685,866 euros. The Kursaal venue closed the financial year with 326 events held, attracting a total of 362,854 attendees and thus surpassing the record turnover set in 2019. These magnificent results are underpinned by the good performance of key segments of the activity.
On the one hand, in the cultural sphere, driven by a highly relevant cultural programme, the second best year in terms of turnover in the history of the Kursaal has been achieved. On the other hand, an all-time record has been reached in corporate activity, with a 46% increase in turnover from conventions and conferences, together with one of the best years in the marketing of services associated with events, such as audiovisuals, lighting and other technical services. In addition, congress activity also stands out, with a 13% increase in the number of congress participants compared to 2022.
